The Attack, from the Tai Chi series, is one representative of Ju, Ming’s transition from his early traditional descriptive to his abstract style. Based on the simple style of the Tai Chi series, this one is not confined to the expression of the action; it baldly breaks away from the movement and abandons tangible gestures. Instead, it focuses on conveying the spirit of Tai Chi. The Attack depicts two rivals attacking each other by jumping into the air at the same time while preparing to defend. It is an artwork that captures the balance of momentum and gives off vigor, verve, and stylish beauty in bulk and outline that is the key signatures of Ju, Ming. The Attack demonstrates Ju Ming’s extreme interpretation of space. The pair of sculptures mutually call and respond from inside out, convey the stamina of life that “expands and contracts to the fullest” and“engulfs the vast wilderness”, which perfectly coincide with the NCKU’s spirit of persistent pursuit in academic achievement.
