After seeing the Dance by Henri Matisse, Chien was deeply touched by the dancers’ dynamic movement and the scene in the painting. He then tried to express the freestyle dancers’ movements of jumping, turning, and strides performed in a joyful atmosphere. By sculpturing the feature of the dancers, the work captures the beauty of the dancers’ dynamics movement.
