王世昭   Wang, Shi-Zhao   1905~1984

Shizhao Wang, former first name Yuguang, style name Suming, courtesy name Tieran, was born in Fuzhou County, Fujian Province, China. He graduated from Donglu University of Yunnan Province (now Yunnan University) in 1928, and used to serve as a cadre of the Young China Party. He was in charge of the party affairs in Guangxi Province when he went back to China in 1931. After the victory over Japan, he worked as the director of The Epoch Daily and the acting principal of Dadao Secondary School. He was hired to be a senior executive officer in the Office of the President in 1949. After settling down in Kowloon in 1950, he deliberately kept his distance from politics and was committed to calligraphy, making himself well-known at home and abroad for his superb poems and calligraphic works in his later years.
